The
PC who was videoed assaulting a civilian has been removed
from working on the frontline. His colleague, who apparently
watched the incident in bemusement, has also been removed
from the street. West Yorkshire Police have commissioned
an investigation into the incident and also voluntarily
referred the case to the Police Complaints Authority.
The
PC was videoed punching and kicking the victim several times
with no apparent provocation or need to react in self defence.
The victim was then arrested and charged for being drunken
and disorderly. These charges were dropped a couple of days
later.
