Practicing chiropodist told to remove 'Dr' from advertisements

A practicing chiropodist with a vast amount of qualifications, ranging from a BA (Hons) to Certificate in Education, has been told to remove 'Dr' from his advertisements by the Advertising Standards Authority. Known as 'Bob' to his patients, the chiropodist's qualifications were investigated by the ASA following a referral from the local Trading Standards office. He verified all his qualifications to the ASA, who have told him to remove 'Dr' from the advertisements as it could potentially mislead patients into thinking he is medically qualified. Bob defends his use of 'Dr', arguing that chiropodists have been allowed to call themselves 'Dr' for the last forty years.
