The Supply
of Goods and Services Act 1982 covers contracts for services,
contracts including goods and services, plus contracts in which
goods are supplied not sold. A complaint should be made, in the
first instance, to the provider of the service in question. It is
worth familiarising yourself with your rights when considering making
any type of complaint. You can read about them in summary or in
detail through our Know Your
Rights section.
If
you know the name of the service provider,
you can access information on complaints procedures by using the
'complain to' box at the top left of this page. You will
be presented with the complaints procedure page for the relevant
service, as well as links to a variety of sources that can offer
extra advice or help if you need it. From this page you will be
able to make a complaint online, provided we have the name of the
service provider in our databases.
If you do not know the name
of the service provider, you can try browsing the lists we have
on this site to see if we might be able to trigger your memory.
Click on the sector icon on the left of this page and then the subsector
that best fits the description of the service in question. You can
then browse through the list of companies displayed. If you are
unable to remember the name of the service provider or are unable
to contact them for any reason you can always take your complaint
to your local Trading
Standards Office or Citizens
Advice Bureau. They will give you free advice and may take your
complaint up for you.
To access
general complaints procedures for a service you have bought simply
click on the sector icon on the left of this page, select the relevant
subsector and click on the nformation
point.
